Initial Box Offerings
An Initial Box Offering (IBO) is how a sealed collectible first becomes available on Archive.
What Is an IBO?
Archive purchases sealed collectibles in bulk. Purchased collectibles are inspected for physical condition and authenticity across our vendor authentication network, then insured and stored in a climate-controlled, weather-protected and 24/7 monitored facility.
Each physical box is divided into 1,000 shares. Collectors can request an allocation from US$1. Allocated shares represent fractional ownership of the sealed collectible.
A pledge is a request, not a purchase. The pledged amount is held while allocations are finalised. You are charged only for the shares allocated to you.
How to Enter an IBO
- Fund your account. Add funds using a method available in the Archive app.
- Choose an IBO. Review the sealed collectible, IBO price, reference price, available supply, current demand and closing time.
- Enter your pledge. Choose how much you want to pledge, starting from US$1.
- Receive your allocation. Once allocations are finalised, allocated shares appear in your Archive portfolio. Anything unfilled is refunded to your available balance.
Oversubscribed IBOs
When collectors request more shares than are available, not every pledge can be filled in full. Allocation considers:
- Deposit speed
- Deposit size
- Prior Archive activity
- Community engagement
- Referrals
Archive considers these signals together. The exact formula is not published, and submitting a larger pledge does not guarantee a proportionally larger allocation.
IBO Pricing
Archive purchases sealed collectibles in bulk. Where Archive secures a procurement advantage, cost savings are passed on to IBO participants.
The IBO price is the fixed price per share shown before you pledge. Reference prices are based on listings from traditional digital marketplaces. They exclude marketplace commissions and fees, shipping, taxes and import duties. A reference price is a comparison point, not the total cost of acquiring a box.
An IBO price does not guarantee future value. Collectors should make their own assessment before participating.
